MW4 System Requirements

Quick Answer

Check Modern Warfare 4 PC minimum, recommended, and ray tracing requirements. Compare CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD space, Windows, TPM 2.0, and Secure Boot support.

The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 system requirements start at an AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600, 8 GB of RAM, a supported graphics card with 3 GB of video memory, and 115 GB of available SSD space at launch. TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required in addition to the ordinary hardware specifications.

The recommended configuration targets 90 FPS in Multiplayer at High graphics settings. The separate Ray Tracing tier targets High-quality ray tracing at 4K upscaled, rather than a stated native-4K frame rate. These are published desktop requirements for the 2026 game, checked on October 20, 2026; they are not independently measured results for every machine or mode.

Every tier also requires broadband internet and DirectX 12 compatibility. Only Intel or AMD processors with the AVX instruction set are supported at this time. Intel Arc graphics cards require Resizable Bar. Additional storage may be needed for mandatory updates after launch.

Choose the requirement tier that matches your goal

The minimum column establishes the published entry configuration. It does not state a particular resolution, graphics preset, or frame rate. Meeting it therefore should not be converted into a promise of 60 FPS, High settings, or ray tracing. It is the starting point for checking whether a desktop matches the listed hardware requirements.

The recommended column is more specific: its stated target is 90 FPS in Multiplayer on High graphics settings. Preserve all parts of that description when comparing your system. A performance target for Multiplayer is not a measured guarantee for every campaign scene, a crowded DMZ deployment, or an arbitrary resolution and combination of settings.

The ray tracing column is a different target, with substantially higher graphics, RAM, and video-memory requirements. Its wording is High-quality ray tracing at 4K upscaled. That should not be rewritten as native 4K, a locked frame rate, or a particular upscaling mode that the requirements table does not specify. There is no frame-rate figure attached to that tier here.

Choose the closest column before evaluating individual components. Mixing the minimum CPU with the ray tracing GPU and then describing the whole computer as a verified ray tracing configuration would skip the other requirements. The CPU, RAM, graphics card, VRAM, operating system, and storage all need to be considered together.

Check your processor and system memory

Start by recording the complete CPU model and installed RAM from Windows system information or the About page in Settings. Keep the full processor name, including its model number. “Core i5,” “Core i7,” or “Ryzen 5” describes a broad family and is not enough to establish a match with the named processors in the table.

For the minimum tier, the listed CPUs are the Ryzen 5 1400 and Core i5-6600. Recommended increases that to the Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i7-8700. Ray tracing lists the Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-10700K. A different model is not automatically covered merely because one part of its name contains a larger number.

The processor also needs AVX support. This is a separate compatibility condition, rather than another graphics setting. The published support statement names Intel and AMD processors with AVX; it does not establish support for a different processor architecture through emulation.

System memory requirements rise from 8 GB to 16 GB and then 32 GB across the three tiers. This is your computer’s RAM. It is separate from the graphics card’s video memory, so adding the two figures together is not a valid way to meet either requirement. Record both values separately when comparing your PC with the table.

Check the graphics model and dedicated video memory

Record the full graphics-card model from Task Manager’s Performance section or the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. On a system with more than one GPU, identify the card intended to run the game rather than assuming that the first graphics entry is the relevant one.

The published minimum cards are the RX 470, GTX 970 or GTX 1060, and Arc A580. The minimum video-memory entry is 3 GB. The recommended cards are the RX 6600 XT, RTX 3060 Ti, and Arc B580, with 8 GB of video memory. The ray tracing tier names the RX 9070 XT or RTX 5070 Ti and lists 16 GB of video memory.

Keep the model and memory checks together. The same broad product family can contain cards with different specifications. A video-memory quantity alone does not establish that a GPU meets the named hardware tier, and a similar-looking card name does not replace checking its actual configuration.

For Intel Arc, Resizable Bar is an explicit requirement. Treat it as another item in the compatibility check rather than assuming that owning an A580 or B580 settles every condition. Use your PC or motherboard documentation to check the feature on that machine; the game requirements do not provide a universal firmware menu path for every manufacturer.

Confirm Windows, TPM 2.0, and Secure Boot

Windows 10 64-bit with the latest update is the listed minimum operating system. Windows 11 64-bit with the latest update is listed for the recommended and ray tracing configurations. Trial, beta, and Insider versions of an otherwise compatible Windows operating system may not be supported.

Check the operating-system version alongside the hardware. A desktop can match the CPU and GPU names while still failing another published condition. DirectX 12 compatibility, TPM 2.0, and Secure Boot are part of the requirements, rather than optional improvements that apply only to the highest graphics tier.

On Windows, System Information can show the BIOS mode and Secure Boot state, while the TPM management tool can report the TPM specification version. These checks help you record the current configuration. They do not establish that every machine uses the same firmware controls or can be configured by following the same set of menu names.

If a required security feature is unavailable or disabled, check the documentation for the specific PC or motherboard before changing firmware settings. The important outcome is confirming the required state on your machine. Reinstalling the game or reducing texture quality does not substitute for meeting a separate TPM or Secure Boot requirement.

Reserve SSD space for the game and updates

All three configurations call for an SSD with 115 GB available at launch. The requirement is available space on the installation drive, not the drive’s total advertised capacity. A 128 GB SSD does not necessarily have 115 GB free after Windows, applications, and other files are counted.

The published storage line is also not a confirmed download-transfer size. Installation space, compressed downloads, and the extra space used while applying an update are different quantities. Do not plan a download allowance or exact patch size from the 115 GB figure alone.

Mandatory updates may require additional space. Check the current free space before installation and again when an update requests it, rather than treating the launch number as a permanent upper limit. The requirements do not specify a fixed amount of extra update space, so there is no additional universal number to promise here.

The storage type matters as well: the stated requirement is an SSD. A hard drive with enough free capacity should not be described as matching the published storage configuration solely because it can hold the same number of gigabytes.

Driver versions listed for launch preparation

Graphics vendorVersion listed in the support requirements
AMD26.7.1
NVIDIA616.56
Intel32.0.101.8974

These are the versions listed in the launch requirements information checked on October 20, 2026. Keep Windows updated through its normal update process. If graphics problems occur, compare the installed driver with the game’s recommended driver information rather than assuming that the hardware model is the only relevant factor.

The NVIDIA note says an ASD-compatible driver will be made available on October 21, before launch. That date is still in the future relative to the October 20 check. Do not assume that the planned driver is already available or substitute an unconfirmed version number for it.

Laptop and unlisted-system limits

The requirements explicitly refer to desktop PCs. A laptop graphics card can have a similar name while being a different model or configuration, and support is not established by the desktop table alone. Use the laptop’s exact specifications and manufacturer documentation when identifying its components.

Likewise, a processor or GPU absent from the table does not receive a measured performance result here. The table gives named configurations and their stated targets. It is not a benchmark database for every integrated GPU, laptop power limit, older graphics card, or emulated operating system.

A useful final check is to record the complete CPU and GPU models, RAM, dedicated video memory, Windows version, SSD free space, TPM version, Secure Boot state, and any Arc Resizable Bar requirement. Compare that complete set with the tier you intend to use. This gives you a concrete compatibility checklist without turning published targets into a performance guarantee for hardware that has not been tested here.
