The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 mission list contains 16 campaign missions, beginning with Mayhem and ending with Greater Good. The 2026 campaign alternates between the Korean conflict and Captain Price’s overseas operations. Use the numbered list below to identify your current chapter, check what follows it, and separate campaign completion rewards from optional exploration.
Mission names, locations, and short descriptions reveal the campaign route. This page avoids explaining character deaths or the ending, but the list itself contains progression spoilers. It applies to Modern Warfare 4 from 2026, rather than Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare from 2007.

The numbers describe the playable chapter sequence. They do not imply that every event happens in a straight chronological line: the campaign changes perspectives and moves between the invasion and connected operations elsewhere. A return to Paris or Hajin therefore does not mean that the game has restarted an earlier mission.

Opening missions: Mayhem to Losing Ground
1. Mayhem
Mayhem introduces Hajin City and a joint squad of South Korean and American Marines. It is the first campaign mission and the starting point for a new story run. Completing it unlocks Cho. The opening patrol establishes Park’s frontline perspective before the story begins switching between the invasion and operations overseas.
2. Out in the Cold
The second chapter moves to New York and follows Captain John Price. Kate Laswell brings a former asset back into play as a new threat emerges. The completion reward is the No More Rules Calling Card. The New York sequence includes close-quarters action and hand-to-hand fighting, contrasting with the larger military operations in Korea.
3. Following Orders
Following Orders takes the campaign into North Korea, where special forces pursue a defector during a transition in the regime. Its completion reward is a Double XP Token. One optional lockbox uses code 214. The note containing that code is in the left cupboard in the kitchen of the house where citizens are interrogated.
4. Hired Gun
Hired Gun returns to Price’s international operation in Paris. Price and Valeria enter an uneasy arrangement involving a package and the Archer. Completing this fourth chapter unlocks Dallas. The deal connects Price’s pursuit of the Archer with Valeria’s effort to move the package, setting up the later Paris and Mumbai chapters.
5. Losing Ground
The fifth mission returns to Hajin as allied forces struggle against the invasion. Its completion reward is a Loading Screen. Unlike the opening patrol, this chapter places the squad inside the invasion itself as allied forces attempt to hold the city.
Middle missions: Traffic to Stranded
6. Traffic
Traffic continues the Paris thread, with Luca alongside Price as a meeting turns into a violent confrontation. The reward is the Luca Operator. It continues the package storyline in Paris and leads toward Price and Valeria’s subsequent operation in Mumbai.
7. Gone Dark
Gone Dark shifts the overseas operation to Mumbai, where Price and Valeria move toward their meeting with the Archer. The completion reward is the Gone Dark Emblem. This is the next overseas stop after the Paris chapters, taking the package operation to its intended meeting point.
8. Assassins
Assassins is a stealth-focused operation in North Korea, centered on an attempt from within the regime to overthrow its leader. Completing it unlocks Oh-Ji. The mission emphasizes infiltration within the regime rather than Park’s conventional frontline battles. Its stealth sections call for a different pace from the surrounding large-scale combat.
9. Survivors
Survivors follows Park and his squad after a crash in North Korea. The survivors move through the snow toward shelter, with Ko entering the story. Its completion reward is a Double XP Token. The crash, flight through the snow, and search for shelter establish the survival situation that carries into Stranded.
10. Stranded
Stranded is the campaign’s more open sandbox chapter, set behind enemy lines in North Korea. It gives the remaining squad room to gather equipment and prepare while working toward the main objectives. Completing it unlocks Kal. Its optional collectibles include 58 notes and 26 yellow supply crates. The three principal objectives can be completed in a chosen order, while the basement hideout supports preparation and crafting.

Closing missions: Defection to Greater Good
11. Defection
Defection takes Sierra-1 into a North Korean airbase operation with help from Lieutenant Ko Jin-Hyuk. The squad plants explosives on hypersonic missiles and holds out for extraction. Its completion reward is a Double Weapon XP Token. The airfield defense includes a character-switching sequence as the squad holds off attackers, adding a change of perspective within the operation itself.
12. Counter Attack
Counter Attack brings Park and Sierra-1 into the assault to retake Hajin City. The operation includes a beach landing and fighting through the city. Completing the chapter unlocks Dunn. After the beach landing, the route moves through the city and finishes on a rooftop as South Korean helicopters arrive.
13. Escape
Escape returns control to Price during his imprisonment in North Korea. The mission follows his attempt to break out with Ghost. Its reward is a Double Weapon XP Token. For the optional Dog Tags, check the Security Room on the right of the hallway after the large room with bunkbeds. The safe code is 8410.
14. Entrenched
Entrenched sends Park and the squad across a snowy battlefield toward a failing power plant in Hajin. Completing it unlocks West. This chapter appears late in the full campaign sequence even though Entrenched was also used in pre-release coverage. A previously shown mission does not necessarily belong at the beginning of the final story order.
15. Decapitation
Decapitation takes the squad toward a North Korean palace and the bunker beneath it. It is the fifteenth chapter and rewards a Double XP Token. The operation moves from the palace into its underground bunker in the search for Commander Ri. Greater Good remains afterward in the playable sequence.
16. Greater Good
Greater Good is the final mission and returns to Price in a snowy North Korean forest. It completes the sixteen-chapter sequence and unlocks Park. Price escapes after a truck crash and pursues the Archer across a frozen lake. Those route details identify the final operation without explaining its outcome.
How campaign rewards are distributed

Eight missions award Operators: Mayhem, Hired Gun, Traffic, Assassins, Stranded, Counter Attack, Entrenched, and Greater Good. The remaining chapters provide three Double XP Tokens, two Double Weapon XP Tokens, a Calling Card, a Loading Screen, and an Emblem. The chapter table shows where each belongs.
Complete the corresponding chapter to earn its campaign reward. These rewards become usable in Multiplayer and DMZ from the full game launch on October 23, 2026. DMZ Early Access on October 20 does not move that stated campaign-reward availability date forward.
These are campaign completion rewards. They should not be confused with a Vault Edition Operator pack, a preorder bonus, or an item earned through a DMZ objective. When checking a locked Operator, match the exact campaign mission requirement rather than assuming that buying a different edition replaces the chapter requirement.
For a practical checklist, record the mission name and its expected reward together. After finishing a chapter, check that its completion is recognized before moving into optional cleanup. If an item appears missing, first verify that you completed the named mission on the active account and that you are checking the matching item category. This is a way to avoid comparing the wrong reward, rather than a verified fix for every unlock problem.
Use the list for replay and remaining progress
Completed campaign missions can be revisited through Mission Select. That makes the chapter names useful beyond a first playthrough: they provide the reference for returning to a particular section or attempting a mission-specific challenge. Replaying one chapter is different from beginning another complete campaign run.
Use the following order when planning a return visit:
- Identify the exact mission attached to your unfinished objective.
- Check whether the objective requires a specific difficulty or action; simple chapter completion and a special challenge are different tasks.
- Select the matching completed chapter rather than starting a new campaign by accident.
- Keep optional collectibles separate from the completion-reward checklist.
- Check the result after the attempt before marking the objective complete.
The sixteen-entry list is a progress reference, not a fixed time estimate. Stranded can expand with exploration, while a linear chapter may take longer on a harder difficulty because of retries. If you are at mission ten, six listed chapters follow it, but that does not mean the remaining time is a predictable fraction of your total run.
The same distinction applies to completion goals. Reaching Greater Good finishes the main sequence; completing every optional challenge is a broader task. Keeping those goals separate lets you use the mission list without mistaking a finished story for a fully cleared campaign.
